In October 1975, registered builder Ken Paulsen established his building company and began trading as KIB Homes. In that time, and up until the late 1980s, KIB constructed mostly brick and tile homes. In 1990, Cedar Homes was created from the garage of Ken’s home. With a growing reputation for building timber-framed homes, Ken moved to an office location in Osborne Park and later to Balcatta, where Cedar Homes trades today.
Today, Ken Paulsen is still at the helm of Cedar Homes as owner/director, while his family operated company has gone on to become one of the best known and most reputable in the specialist market of timber-frame home construction.

We don’t just build in cedar…
That’s right. In fact, very few Cedar Homes are built in cedar. Today, we mostly build from James Hardie weatherboards, Colorbond, and occasionally with brick and/or Acratex acrylic render.
Our homes incorporate old world charm with the latest innovations in home design and modern living, and they are designed to accommodate all tastes and budgets, from colonial country style and family homes to coastal beach houses.
Timber framed homes offer better thermal qualities than standard homes and can be built on concrete slabs or stumps.
Accredited builder
Cedar Homes is a member of the Housing Industry Association and a Greensmart accredited builder, which means our homes feature high Building Code of Australia (BCA) energy ratings and solar passive features for comfortable living (6-star).
